Aileen Maltese's Conquer Chiari Walk Across America Page
The Conquer Chiari Walk Across America is an annual fundraising and awareness event comprised of a series of local walks held on the 3rd and 4th Saturday of September.
In 2016, the event was held at 85 locations, involved more than 11,000 participants, and raised over $500,000 for research and other patient centered programs. The 10th annual walk will be held on September 16th & 23rd 2017. As always, it is our goal to have at least one walk in every state, and for 80% of the money raised going towards research, education, and awareness.
Message from Aileen:
I was diagnosed with Chiari off of a 5year old MRI. I had been suffering with a margarine that never went away and to top it all of i had started black out. Amongst other fun things. Today I've been decompressed and fused for 3years and though i don't black out anymore I still suffer from daily headaches. I developed pseudotumor cerebri, which led to more meds which caused problems which led to even more meds.
Surgery isn't a fix, it's like putting a dot bandaid on shark bite.
