The Evansville Conquer Chiari Walk
Across America was a truly wonder-filled day! We had about 300 people in
attendance and although we didn't raise as much money as last year, we did
receive the attention of the local news. Walk participants enjoyed music
from the Sweet Adelines, balloon making from Stubby T. Clown, a bounce house
for the kids, burgers and hot dogs prepared on site by the Holy Smokers and
most importantly the fellowship and feelings of unity this special day
created. Two local news stations covered the walk, Monica Griest, our walk
organizer, my son Nick and I (co- organizer) were interviewed. Due to local
coverage in the press, one walker could not participate because she was
receiving decompression surgery the Monday before the walk! Our efforts of
awareness have indeed been met and we will continue to build on the momentum
we have built so far. As we look forward to next year, we will foster the
new friendships we have made with other Chiarians and continue to bring
awareness locally to this under understood disorder. Thank you Evansville
for a truly successful day!
