September 30, 2008 --

September 20th 2008 changed my life and many others. Our walk was at Broward Campus South in Pembroke Pines Florida. Our walkers walked around a pond with a fountain, and many ducks. Atmosphere was so breath taken. We had over 50 people and their tots. Total donations with sponsors around $2,300! There were purple goody bags given to each walker. 10 Door prizes were given out after the story's. We had donuts, chips, and Pizza that were all donated. I was so proud of our community. After the walk we had some walkers who wanted to share their stories. We had a fifteen year old in a wheelchair, she talked about her experience with the doctors and all that she has been through. She has Chiari but also has EDS. She was such a blessing. Her mom was so proud of her. Forty three year old male, spoke about when he was first diagnosed with Chiari - three years ago. Both still having problems. Ten year old's mother spoke about what they had gone through with their son. All three had decompression surgery.

You could feel the love from each and every one of our walkers. We shared laughter and we also shared tears!! We shared e-mail addresses, phone numbers and addresses. We had our pictures taken too. Look out because next year will be bigger, better and higher goals! Thank you for letting me be part of this great adventure, that we all face each and every day!
