It's that time of the year again.  It's time to ask yourself what is Chiari & Syringomyelia News worth, or more importantly, what is Conquering Chiari worth to you?

We are kicking off our end of year fund drive and it is critically important that everyone think about what they can give so that we can continue, and move forward with, our mission.  I realize many of you are hard pressed for money, but if you could dig deep and if everyone gave just a little bit, we could make such a difference together.

Thousands and thousands of patients, family members, friends, and medical professionals use this website to learn about Chiari.  Every person that visits is one more person who is aware of what Chiari is.  Here's why we need money...

What We Provide

  • The ConquerChiari website, a one-stop shop for information about Chiari, syringomyelia, and related topics

  • Extensive patient education materials, including an FAQ and Patient Education Sheets

  • On-line, monthly newsletter, Chiari & Syringomyelia News, which includes Research Updates, Personal Stories, Interviews, In-Depth Features, and more, all written in plain English

  • Awareness sheets which can easily be sent to friends or handed out at Health Fairs

  • An ear to listen, a shoulder to lean on, and a place to get answers to critical questions

What We Are Raising Money For

  • Expanded patient education materials, including subject presentations which will present the latest thinking on specific topics

  • A program to send the Patient Education Sheets to every neurosurgeon and neurologist in the country so that anyone diagnosed with Chiari and/or syringomyelia is given patient focused information and a place to turn to

  • An on-line meeting place for people to connect with each other and find support

  • The creation of a doctor list

  • Publication of a book, "A Patient's Guide To Chiari & Syringomyelia", so that patients have a comprehensive guide to their condition

  • A grass-roots volunteer awareness campaign, where the people raise their voice and make a difference

  • A comprehensive review of the existing research on Chiari, which will map out what is known, what is not known, what is suspected, and how to move forward in a systematic way

  • Exciting new research, on a number of fronts, which will hopefully Conquer Chiari once and for all.

I don't need to tell you the heartbreaking stories, we all know them.  The children who must suffer through tests and surgery, the anguished parents, the adults who go years being told they're crazy, the families who are stressed to the breaking point.

It's time to put an end to this once and for all.  It's time to get up and fight back.  It's time to Conquer Chiari.
