Annie Sharich

|
Annie is from Salt Lake City, Utah, and is 23 years old. She is a student
at the University of Utah studying Sociology with an emphasis in
Criminology. Someday Annie hopes to start a non-profit organization which
benefits the lives of those suffering from long term illness. She had her
decompression surgery in October of 2005 and started training for her first
marathon 3 months after surgery. Eight months after surgery, she completed
the Salt Lake City marathon in 4 hours 42 minutes. She is especially
excited to run the St. George Marathon because it will be within days of her
one year mark and she can't think of a better way to celebrate than using
her body to the max that once hardly worked! She loves anything outdoors,
traveling, reading and time with family and friends.

Ray D’Alonzo

|
Ray is from Cincinnati, OH, and is 54 years old. Ray is a research
scientist at Procter & Gamble where he has worked for over 29 years. Just
prior to decompression, Ray was dependent on a wheel chair. He was
decompressed in 1999. After several years of hard work following surgery,
Ray completed the Air Force marathon in September 2005 with a time of 4
hours 28 minutes and the Xena, OH, marathon in April 2006 with a time of 4
hours flat. Ray hopes to complete the Columbus marathon in less than 4
hours. He is married to his wife, Marilyn, and has 3 grown children and two
grandchildren.

Adele Morgan

|
Adele, 40, is from Hillsborough, NJ and the wife of her best friend, Mike.
As a swim coach for the Somerset Valley YMCA and the Hillsborough High
School swim team, as well as the mother of two young boys, ages 6 and 9,
life is quite busy! She is also a fitness instructor and each spring trains
kids and adults in her community toward the goal of completing their first
5K. Adele had never heard of the word Chiari prior to a fall in July of 2005
which led to, among other things, headaches, hydrocephaly and an emergency
decompression surgery in August 2005. After originally qualifying for the
Boston Marathon at Philly in November, 2004, Adele had planned on running
Boston 2006 but had a little Chiari detour along the way. Determined not to
lose her qualifying slot, she focused her recovery and 8 months post
decompression ran the Boston marathon in April 2006 with a time of 4 hours
and 6 minutes. |
